Sunday Stealing: Take One
So I saw this “Sunday Stealing” on Ashly’s blog and I was in just the right mood that I couldn’t resist. I was bored, I had hands free, you get the drift.. Please, read on for the juicy bits! There’s questions and rambling amazeballs for your viewing pleasure!
1. Why did you sign up for writing your blog?
In the beginning it was entirely therapeutic, I just needed to let off steam and hold myself accountable, like a diary open to the world, completely about self-expression. It ended up being that and so much more. Of course these days there’s not so much venting to do, I feel I’m at a stable point in my life and I’m happy with that. Now I mostly post for my own amusement as well as to stay in contact with several internet friends that I’ve made over the years..
2. Why did you choose your blog’s name? What does it mean?
(taken from my “About” page)
It has kind of a double meaning, actually.
Part one: When I was fifteen, I hitchhiked across the country with a friend to try and deliver her home safely to her mom. One of the people we met along our journey was a really nice biker dude who was concerned about us being out on the highway so late at night. He offered to take us to his cabin and feed us, let us get a night of sleep and then deliver us back to the highway with enough money for the next food stop. Since there was two of us, and we were broke (and drunk) we agreed and we had a great time just chillin’ at his cabin. There was a huge banner over the gate onto the property that read “Penelope’s Wake” and I thought it looked cool so I asked the story behind it, he told me that he’d had a giant pet pig that got shot by a hunter and since she was his best friend plus he was a gypsy road warrior by nature, he invited his biker friends over to give her an appropriate send off. The name stuck and now its a bit local legend/folklore in the area. It sounds like a silly tale but it gave me a certain amount of hope for the future, even at my tender age, I didn’t feel like such a loser oddball, I’ll never forget him, his kindness or his story of his beloved Penelope.
Part two: My original net name was Tragic, I’m a recovering Goth and I’ve never been what you’d call a bucket of sunshine if you know what I mean. I had a lot of dumb shit happen during that period and for reasons of personal safety, I had to totally abandon the name online. I did not abandon the name in meatspace though and several folks called me by my nickname regardless of my net state. Eventually I planned to come back to my “real” name out here and when I did, this blog name seemed appropriate because so much about me (my style, my opinions, my overall knowledge of the world) had changed and grown, it was almost as though I’d passed through some kind of near death experience (in meatspace I actually did have a NDE) and it just felt like the right name for my bitching post.
3. Do you ever had another blog?
I did, in the past, several. They’ve mostly been anonymous but they’ve never held for me that certain fatal attraction that is Tragic’s Wake. I stumbled upon the perfect formula with my old “Tragic’s Kingdom” and it just sorta kept me hanging on until I got here today, where I feel that I am finally home and I have finally found my personal blogging voice.
4. What do you do online when you’re not on your blog?
Surf my social networks, read piles and piles of news and trades, blog hopping galore.
5. How about when you’re not on the computer?
I like to go for coffee and chill with friends, read books, sketch little doodles, and nap. Sometimes I go dancing with my crew, I like to go out with my camera and MP3 player. I shop, pay bills, basically do a lot of normal people stuff.
6. What do you wish people who read your blog knew about you?
That I am a real person, not just text in space. I have feelings and experiences that I may not show here. I have a life and sometimes it’s not what someone may think it is. I have a soul and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m not generally as cranky as I come across but I’m far more opinionated than you’ll ever read here.
7. What is your favorite community in the blogosphere?
I don’t have a favourite and I don’t interact on any groups or message boards, my community exists here, on twitter, with family and close friends on facebook, but this is it. WYSIWYG. I’m kinda like “The Littlest Hobo” really..
8. What is your philosophy on your blog layout?
Whatever I feel at the time, I see it as representation of who I am and how I’m feeling, thus it changes as frequently as my overall state of mind does..
9. Tell me about your picture you use to represent you on your blog.
I use many, I have an image randomizer in the sidebar because I’m many different people at any given time. The photo in my current header was from a holiday with my family, I was happy and I felt like queen of the world. I like to see that when I open the door to “home” it comforts me.
10. Pick 3 random blogs from your blogroll and tell us about them.
I can’t really pick, honestly. I can tell you that a few of my besties out here are Ashly Star and X.Dell, both of whom are amazing and intense people in their own right. See my links page for more amazeballs with awesomesauce.
11. What features do you think your blog should have that it doesn’t currently?
I actually think it’s perfect right now, just the way it is.
12. What do you consider the 10 most “telling” interests that we would infer from what you blog persona?
- my love for digital art.
- my liberal mindset.
- my love of gadgets.
- my love for image editing.
- my love for bitching.
- my devotion to friends and family.
- my offbeat sense of humour.
- I really am a survivor.
- I tweet an awful lot.
- I’m no doormat.
13. Do you have any unique interests that you have never shared before? What are they?
Not really. I don’t think anyhow. I believe many of my interests come across in my posts even when I haven’t mentioned them specifically. I’m really interested in paranormal and spirituality, I suppose I don’t talk about that much. I’m also pretty big into true crime and old Hollywood. My sister and I both read extensively into serial killer culture and criminal psychology..
14. The best thing about blogging is all of the friends that you make, Beside from those folks, do you think your blog has fans?
I don’t really know. My counter shows that I have a lot of visitors who never comment or leave trace but I know they’re here, that’s ok. Fans though? Not likely, probably just someone who needs to hear a voice in the night and mine happens to be there at just the right time.
15. What’s your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
Photo editing. I love taking a plain image and making it “feel” but in outrageous ways. Adding a silly caption or changing the colour tone. The smallest changes can make the most basic photo a memory for life. Big huge Purikura style changes are just plain fun.
16. What are you glad you did but haven’t really had a chance to post about?
Stepped away from some seriously draining drama. I have no plans to post about it either, it’s really not worth taking the time to spread it out there and it would tend to wake the sleeping dragons which I also have no intention of doing.
17. How many people that first became a blog friend, have you met face to face?
I’d have to say none because barely any locals blog the kinds of stuff that I do and I really don’t travel.
18. What don’t you talk about here, either because it’s too personal or because you don’t have the energy?
Certain struggles related to my extended family. It wouldn’t bother me to post about it but I have respect for the sensitivities of others and so I keep a lid on it. And yeah, it’s an emotional vampire, sucks the very life force out of ya, just too much bother getting into.
19. What’s a question that you’d love to answer?
This one? Haha, I don’t honestly know but if anyone reading this wants to leave one in the comments: please feel free!
20. Have you ever lost a blogging friendship and regretted it?
A few I’ve lost, none really regretted. I won’t count those who have left blogging or left this world as “lost” because they’ll always be friends in my heart.
21. Have you ever lost a blogging friendship and thought, “Was that overdue!”
Yes, that is about as far as I’ll elaborate too.

Hey ya! Enjoyed your answers.
Yeah funny I get a lot of “vistiors” on my Blog too. And they never leave comments, erggh! (I love having my Tracker, and see I get a lot of European people on mine. Wish they’d say something.)
